The Commander of Ondo State Security Network Agency codenamed “Amotekun”, Adetunji Adeleye, has confirmed the invasion of farms in Alagbaka extension area of the states by herdsmen.
Disclosing the incident in an interview on Tuesday, he said herdsmen brought their cows to the farms and destroyed the crops. The farmers fled after the heavily armed herdsmen brought out arms to confront them as they tried to protest.
Amotekun got wind of the situation and swung into action immediately, however, the herdsmen confronted them but were eventually overpowered and ran for their life. Sadly, no herdsmen was captured. The security network managed to seize 42 cows.
Adeleye said the herdsmen will have to pay for the destruction of crops as the crops destroyed were beyond redemption. One of the farmers lamented how the herdsmen have continued to intentionally bring cows to their farms and destroy it. He asked that security agency help to stop the incessant attacks.
