Here are the Top 10 Afrobeats Albums of the Decade (iTunes)

Take a look at the top 10 Afrobeats albums of the decade of 2010 to 2019 according to iTunes sales. The list is mostly dominated by Wizkid and Asa who both had two of their albums feature in the list.

Surprisingly, none of Davido’s album, who continued to release hit single’s back-to-back towards the end of the decade made the list. This could perhaps be explained by the fact that Davido’s chart-topping album A Good Time was only released in the last month of the end of the decade.

Without further ado, see the list of the top Afrobeats albums of the decade.

#1 Ayo (Joy) by Wizkid

Released on 17 September 2014, Ayo is the second album released by Wizkid. The album is named after the Nigerian music sensation and was released as a follow-up to his debut album Superstar.

#2 The Chairman by M.I Abaga

M.I has established a reputation as the pioneer of street rap in Africa with several chart-topping tracks to his name. The third studio album by the self-styled African Rapper Number One, The Chairman was released on October 30, 2014.

#3 Bed of Stone by Asa

Bed of Stone was the third album from Asa, a Nigerian-french recording artist. Produced by Naive Records, Bed of Stone was released on 25 August 2014.

#4 Wanted by Wande Coal

Wande Coal a former member of the now-defunct Mohits Records led by Don Jazzy released Wanted, his second studio album on October 26, 2015.

Complete with humorous skits, bright lyrics and heavy instruments, Wanted was a hit at the time.

#5 The Ascension by 2Face

The sixth studio album from the legendary musician and “African Queen” crooner, The Ascension was released on July 21, 2014. It was a highly-anticipated album when it was released and the 2baba fans were not disappointed.

#6 Superstar by Wizkid

Wizkid’s debut album Superstar is indisputably one of the best-received studio albums of this decade. Released on June 12, 2011, Wizkid’s debut album was produced by his then record label Empire Mates Entertainment EME owned by R&B singer Banky W.

#7 No Guts No Glory by Phyno

Known in the African rap world as the King of the East for his utter dominance of the afrobeat rap genre in the Eastern Nigeria, Phyno has released some well-received songs.

So, when the No Guts No Glory album came out on 20 March 2014, it was widely received.

#8 ASA (Asha) [Deluxe Edition] by Asa

The acoustic guitar-heavy sounds from Nigerian-French singer, Asa made her self-titled album one of the most downloaded albums of the decade on iTunes.

#9 Blessed by Flavour

Released on October 18, 2012 through 2nite Entertainment, tracks from Blessed the album by Flavour ruled the airwaves in 2012 and continued to remain streamers favorites on iTunes throughout the decade.

#10 L.I.F.E by Burna Boy

Short for Leaving an Impact for Eternity, LIFE was the debut album by music sensation, Burna Boy. The album was released on August 12, 2013 by Aristokrat Records.
