Abubakar Shekau, the Boko Haram leader who has suffered significant defeat in the hands of the gallant Nigerian Armed Forces has been caught on tape crying, information reaching OYOGist.com reveals.
In the now circulating audio clip, Shekau, who spoke in Kanuri, is heard seeking for protection against the Nigerian troops’ firepower that has cornered him and his now-scanty fighters.
According to translation by Daily Nigerian, Shekau called the offense of the Nigerian Army a devilish act and said he and his fighters are facing hardship in the holy month of Ramadan.
“If it is the devilish act and wickedness of the Nigerian army, may God protect us from their evil. Oh Allah, keep us firm on your religion. We are poor things who know nothing, oh our Lord, Allah,” Shekau said before he burst into weeping.
“We deserted Izala people to practice your true religion; we abandond Tijjaniyya people to practice your true religion; we deserted the Shiites to practice your true religion; we forsook our parents, uncles and aunties to practice your true religion.
“It is because of your religion that we placed knife on your servants necks; but today, they are trying to change us from one thing to another. Oh Lord, have mercy upon us under [the blessings] of Ramadhan (intensifies crying.)
Experts on terrorism and Boko Haram have suggested that the weeping Shekau was caught in the audio is quite unusual and indicates that the Boko Haram faction of Shekau is facing terrible times. This is not unconnected to the continuous onslaught of the Nigerian Army against the terrorist group.
OYOGist.com recalls that we brought news of the victory of the Nigerian troops against the terrorist group barely a month ago, with the Armed force of Nigeria defeating the terrorist and recovering several weapons from the fleeing Boko Haram terrorists.
