Yesterday, Wednesday 20th of May, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) recorded the highest ever confirmed cases of coronavirus in a single day, OYOGist.com has gathered.
The WHO revealed that more than 100,000 cases were reported to it within 24 hours on Wednesday, breaking the record for the highest number of cases recorded in a day since the outbreak began in December 2019.
It was the highest number of confirmed cases recorded in one day at more than 104,000, with just 4 nations accounting for more than 35% of the cases, says WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The United States, the world’s epicenter of the COVID-19 virus, recorded 45,251 cases on Wednesday, followed by Russia with more than 9,000 cases, the WHO data revealed.
