According to reports reaching Oyogist.com, the president of Philippine, Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday October 2, announced that he is retiring from politics.
Recall, Duterte had been mandated to run for vice president.
However, he isn’t eligible to run again for president as the constitution sets a single-six-year term limit for the president.
Duterte made this recent announcement in the company of his long time loyalist Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, from their ruling PDP-Laban party.
He said; “Today, I announce my retirement from politics.”
It is still uncertain, who would run for president Next year, although Political observers had long suspected Duterte could mandate his daughter, Sara Duterte-Carpio, for the position.
