A delegation of US envoys who met with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday, the 22nd of October have condemned the attack on unarmed peaceful #EndSARS protesters that took place at Lekki on Tuesday, OYOGist.com reports.
The delegation had initially planned a meeting with senior officials of Nigerian government at Abuja prior to the crisis in thw country. They, however, did not meet with the President himself. Buhari gave a live speech on Thursday, 7PM to address the nation after several states have been placed under curfew follow unrests.
The delegation who included 3 senior US State Department officials, condemned the “use of excessive force force by Military forces who fired on Unarmed [#EndSars ] demonstrators in Lagos.” Two of the delegates are close to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Members of the delegation include Counselor T. Ulrich Brechbuhl, Ass Secretary Rober Destro and Ass Secretary Denise Natali.
A senior correspondent to The National (an American news media), Joyce Karam, shared the statement of the delegation who met with the VIce President in Abuja on Thursday.
In a much anticipated live broadcast where the President addressed the nation over the #EndSARS protests, he failed to mention the killings of unarmed peaceful protesters at the Lakki Toll Plaza.
