The President of the United States, President Trump, is set to be acquitted after the Democrats failed to convince enough Republicans to side with them in calling in witnesses.
The Democrats had hoped that four Republicans would have swung their way and voted for witnesses, creating a chance for an extension of the trial.
However, only two of the expected four Republicans voted in favour of the Democrats.
With this, the trial will proceed to a vote on whether President Trump should be acquitted or not – and all indications show he will be acquitted.
