#ENDSARS trends on Twitter as people share their experiences

Nigeria has continued to witness an alarming level of police brutality and high-handedness of some men in uniform, and more notoriously from officers of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) division.

The campaign to scrap the SARS unit of the police has continued to gain momentum in the country and several people, particularly young men that “look a certain way” keep facing abuses, harassment which always ends in extortion.

The extortion is always disguised as a form of bail, paid to the officers to facilitate your release from them after implicating you in crimes you know nothing about. Talk of Internet Fraud, also known as Yahoo Yahoo.

So it’s understandable when #EndSars begins to trend on Twitter, just days into the new year.

See as many people share their own experiences in the hands of the SARS men below.
