During his quarterly media on 21 December 2019, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State revealed that the immediate past administration led by former governor Abiola Ajimobi had gone through N5.9 billion that it received just three weeks towards the end of the tenure.
Governor Seyi Makinde is being praised for his prudence in spending government funds and his ability to still meet other state needs while paying the full salaries of the government workers.
During the media chat, he emphasized on the needs of his administration to cut down costs, including the decision to shelve the idea of purchasing official vehicles after resuming office.
There he revealed that the past government of Abiola Ajimobi has gone through over five billion, nine hundred million naira they received three weeks towards the end of that administration’s tenure.
The money was said to have been decimated to a mere N29,000 (twenty-nine thousand naira only), which was what was left in the state coffers when Seyi Makinde’s government resumed office.
The governor said the frivolous spending of the past administration would not go unpunished.
