(Ibadan, Oyo State; 21 December, 2019) Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State revealed in his quarterly media chat with the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) that in a bid to keep government cost down, he has not acquired any official cars for himself and those in his administration.

The current administration of Governor Seyi Makinde in Oyo State has been able to pay salaries while funding state infrastructure projects at the same time.

When asked how he was able to do that during the media chat, Makinde revealed that he had to consolidate the state government’s 60+ bank accounts into one and keep costs down by reducing expenses, including driving his own car.

“When we started, Oyo State’s finances were in a bad state. At the moment, I still use my personal car.” the governor said.

“We have not bought any car for the officials, this will cost Billions. We decided to prioritize the needs of the people of Oyo State.”

“Oyo State had over 60 bank accounts, I asked the Accountant General to consolidate them into one account. The total was N6billion. The IGR has gone up a bit, because we have blocked the loopholes but we will do more.”
