The former president of the United States of America, President Barack Obama, has expressed his view about women and leadership.
Speaking at an event in Singapore on Monday 16th December 2019 where he and former First lady, Michelle Obama have been on tour of Asia to campaign for the Obama Foundation, the president said having women in power would fix the majority of the problems created by men.
Obama was a speaker for an event that charged around $255 to $955 per entry, where he talked about the challenges of leadership today and the need for older people, particularly men, to step aside for women to take leadership roles.
The President said that if women led every country for two years, we will witness significant change across the board in all aspects.
“There would be improvements on just about everything,” Obama said.
“There would be less war, kids would be better-taken care of and there would be a general improvement in living standards and outcomes.
The Former President went on to blame most of the world’s problems on old people that refused to step aside and let younger ones take over, with emphasis on older men.
“If you look at the world and look at the problems, it’s usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way,” he said.
According to BBC, Obama spoke in clear terms about how men in power are contributing to most of the world’s problems.
“They cling to power, they are insecure, they have outdated ideas and the energy and fresh vision and new approaches are squashed,” said Obama.
“Now women, I just want you to know, you are not perfect, but what I can say pretty indisputably is that you’re better than us [men].”
