President Muhammadu Buhari, speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity at a secondary school event held to commemorate the 50 years anniversary of the school that he spent nine years in boarding school.
The president was in Daura, his hometown, on Monday, December 2nd to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Transportation University of Daura. He was in the company of the Honorable Minister of Transportation and the Governors of Katsina and Kano States.
Buhari was among the people who founded the school five decades ago. Speaking on his behalf, Mr. Gaba Shehu shared the history of the school and commended the management for the great job being done.
“I spent nine years in the boarding school where the teachers showered us with love, care and total commitment.
They treated you as their own children. They commended you when you did well, and flogged you on bare buttocks if you misbehaved,” the President said.
During his speech, he enjoined the school’s old boys association to continue the good job they were doing to take the school to greater height.
