Oyogist.com has learnt that the Vendee Globe round the world sailing race has finally come to an end with Yannick Bestaven grabbing the number one spot.
Yannick Bestaven, in Maitre Coq IV, was actually the third person to finish the race in 80 days, three hours, 44 minutes and 46 seconds, but won because he used his bonus time to help a fellow competitor who was struggling.
German sailor Boris Herrmann, accidentally ran into a fishing trawler during the final stretch of the race but was immediately rescued by Bestaven.
