The $6.6 million which amounted to N2.3billion Nigeria Economic Sustainability Plan approved on Wednesday by the Federal Executive Council, has led the Federal Government to put on hold the purchase of vehicles including the non critical administrative capital spending, across the country.

In a document made available to journalist earlier today in the Federal Capital territory by the special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, tagged it” what you need to know about the Nigeria Economic Sustainability Plan”.

The Economic Sustainability Committee was established earlier in March by President, Major General Mohammed Buhari (retd) and chaired by Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo. The plan was designed to support the nation’s economy which has been crippled by the CoViD-19 Pandemic.

The minister also emphasized on some key interventions in the document which included; infrastructure, business support for SMEs, technology, massive agricultural programme.

However, the minister made clear the exemption of some vehicles like ambulances, fire fighting vehicles and other essentials that can be purchased in a way to curb non essential spending in the Government. All Federal Government MDAs will be covered in the expanded Integrated Personnel and Payment Information system.

Mr. Femi Adesina, made known to the Nigerians that, Non- Critical and administrative capital spending will be eliminated including purchase and the importation of vehicles.

The Vice-president, professor Yemi Osinbanjo will regularly brief the president on it progress and its working committee will monitor the implementation of the plan.
