Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has been dragged to court for commissioning a group of painters to draw the mural a bold visibly yellow ‘Black Lives Matter’ painting on the street leading straight to the White House because it ‘shows favoritism towards one race.’

The mayor painted the mural in solidarity with the ongoing anti-racist protests; championing for and end to injustice and inhumane police brutality targeted at black people. The protests ensued following the death of African American George Floyd in the custody of Minneapolis police officers.

According to reports, Mayor Muriel Bowser was sued on Wednesday this week in a US District Court for the District of Columbia. The plaintiff and the activists suing the mayor claimed that the ‘Black Lives Matter’ mural painted on 16th Street means that black people are the favored race of the Washington DC.

They also demanded that three other paintings reading ‘Blue Lives Matter’ for police, ‘Green Lives Matter’ for the National Guard and ‘All Lives Matter’ be painted in place of the already existing “Black Lives Matter” mural. The mayor’s office is yet to react to these court proceedings.
