Drunk in the spirit of electioneering, US Democratic Presidential Candidate, and former Vice President, Joe Biden called out e-commerce giant, Amazon, for not paying adequate tax and the company gave it back to him, OYOGist.com reports.
In a May 23rd tweet, US Presidential hopeful, Joe Biden criticized the trillion-dollar company for not paying its fair share in taxes, thereby short-changing the US government.
However, the law that allows Amazon to avoid paying reasonable taxes (up till some point in 2019, Amazon paid $0.00 in taxes to the US government), was set up to encourage businesses to grow and create jobs.

Amazon and several big American companies have leveraged this law to save billions of dollars in taxes. Obviously, Joe Biden doesn’t think that’s fair enough, which is why he tweeted about Amazon.
“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: No company pulling in billions of dollars in profits should pay a lower tax rate than firefighters and teachers. It’s time for Amazon to pay its fair share.” Joe Biden tweeted.
Amazon, infuriated by what seemed like it was being singled out by the politician fired back and schooled the Democratic leader on the tax laws.
“@JoeBiden We pay every cent owed. You spent 3 decades in the Senate & know that Congress wrote these tax laws to encourage companies to invest in the US economy. We have. 500k jobs with a minimum wage of $15/hr across 40 states. Assume your complaint is with the tax code, not Amazon,” the company fired back.
