Turkish airlines introduces bigger planes after being grounded by Buhari

The pledge was made after the federal government issued a suspension to the airline for its poor treatment of Nigerians who board its flight from Turkey.

Turkish Airlines have pledged to start operating bigger planes that can ferry both passengers and their luggages in take in Nigeria.

According to reports, the officials of the airline met with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) team in Abuja on Friday and there they assured them of introducing bigger-sized aircrafts that can pick Nigerian passenger and their bags left in Turkey.

Earlier on Thursday, the Federal Governed through the NCAA had ordered the suspension of the operating license of Turkish airlines for repeatedly treating Nigerians poorly on its flights.

The suspension was to remain until the airline was ready to improve its treatment of its Nigerian passengers by operating bigger planes that could carry Nigerians and their bags at once.

The Federal Ministry of Aviation(FAAN) stated on Friday that the airline had responded and pledged to comply with the demands of the NCAA.

According to statement from NCAA, it said: “Consequent upon the suspension of Turkish Airlines operations in Nigeria, the Acting Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Abdullahi Sidi, today (Friday) met with the management of Turkish Airlines at the NCAA office in Abuja.

“At the end of the meeting, the airline’s executives pledged to commence immediately freight of all leftover passengers’ baggage back in Turkey.

“According to them, this will be achieved by instantly upgrading the Boeing 737– 800 being used and found inadequate to a larger Airbus A330 and Boeing 737 – 900.”
