Adnan Bostaji, the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Nigeria has died in his sleep, TheCable.ng reports. A Tuesday statement issued by the embassy of Saudi Arabia in Nigeria announced his death.
According to the statement, Amb. Adnan Bostaji died in his sleep. A Turkish hospital in Abuja reportedly pronounced him dead.
“With the deepest sense of sadness and complete submission to the Will of Allah, the Royal Embassy announces the passing away of his Excellency, the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Nigeria, Mr Adnan Mahmoud Bostaji,” the statement read.
Bostaji was trained in the social sciences in 1985 at the King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, where he received his Bachelor’s degree.
He then obtained a higher diploma in diplomatic studies in 1988 from the Diplomatic Studies Institute in Riyadh.
The Ambassador began his career at the Saudi ministry of foreign affairs. Thereafter, he became the ambassador for the Saudi embassy in Tehran between 1991 and 1998.
He then worked as the administrator to the Gulf Cooperation Council for the ministry of foreign affairs from 1998 to 2000.
He was appointed as chargé d’ affaires for the Saudi embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark from 2000 to 2003.
In 2003 to 2005, he worked as the head of economic affairs and international organizations at the Saudi embassy in London. He served as the director in the office of the ministry of foreign affairs in Makkah from 2003 to 2016.
He served as deputy to the ambassador at the Saudi embassy in Berlin in 2016, then became the Saudi ambassador to Nigeria.
