According to report reaching OYOGist.com, President Muhammadu Buhari will be addressing Nigerians on Monday, October 19, 2020, as the first phase of the easing of Protest and restrictions for the containment of the #EndSARS protester comes to an end.
This was just as the president on Sunday, October 18, 2020, received the Inspector General of Police on SARS led by its Chairman and Secretary to Government of the Federation, Yusuf Muhammadu, at the presidential villa for briefing and recommendations on the first phase of the gradual easing of Protest for the end of police brutality.
In his response to a question, the IGP said that the police force has been monitoring closely the obedience to the ease of Protest guidelines.
“We have given our recommendations to the President and we will wait for his decision on the next phase of ease of #EndSARS tomorrow. We have been monitoring quite closely the obedience to the ease of PROTEST guidelines”, IGP said.
“Whatever decision we take is in the best interest of Nigerians. We are trying to save lives and at the same time balance it up with the economy. No country on earth can afford a Protest for a prolonged period of time. It will be dangerous to the economy. ’’
IG noted that the police force has made its recommendation to the president and so everyone will have to wait for his decision on Monday.
