OYOGist.com haa learned that one of the traditional rulers of Zaria, Iyan Zazzau Bashir Aminu, has sued Kaduna State Governor Nasir El Rufai for allegedly violating the appointment of Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli as Emir Zazzau 19.
The Daily Nigerian reports that Iyan Zazzau’s lawyers filed a lawsuit in the Kaduna High Court on Monday, demanding that she be declared a Sabon Sarki because he won the most votes when Sarki’s voters cast their ballots.
According to the newspaper, the indictment alleges that among those charged before Governor El Rufai were the Kaduna State Commissioner for Justice, the State Council of Emirs, the Zazzau Emirate, the Zazzau Waziri Ibrahim Aminu and the Zazzau Umaru Muhammad and Makama.
Zazzau Mohammed Abbas and Zazzau Friday Imam, Dalhatu Kasimu Imam and Mohammed Sani Aliyu, Konan Zazzau Imam and Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli the new Emir.
The petition seeks to declare Iyan Zazzau as the new Emir and annul the appointment of Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli as the new Emir of Zazzau.
The petition also asked the court to stop any attempt to celebrate the appointment of Ahmed Bamalli by the Kaduna State government or any of its officials.
