According to report reaching oyogist.com, fasting in the month of Ramadan continues on Wednesday while as the crescent moon wasn’t sighted.
Since April 13, Muslims across world have abstained from eating, drinking, and any form of sexual relationship from dawn till dusk.
This is as a result of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan — one of the five pillars of Islam.
Ramadan can either run for 29 or 30 days, depending on the sighting of a new crescent moon.
As this year’s Ramadan nears its end, astronomers have been engaging in careful observation for a new moon to determine the day of eid-il-fitr.
This development comes a day after the federal government announced Wednesday and Thursday as public holidays.
This implies that Nigerians will have only one day to celebrate eid-il-fitr as againt the traditional two days.
Indonesia, Qatar, Turkey, Saudi have all declared that Shawwal crescent was not seen today. Thursday would be their #EidAlFitr
