According to report reaching oyogist.com, the Center for Disease Control and prevention has mandated the use of facemasks on all public transportation in the United States including Uber amid the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is coming weeks after the US President, Joe Biden, signed an executive order mandating the compulsory use of facemasks across the country.
The directive which was given by the CDC is not applicable to children under the age of 2 years old. The CDC also added that passenger may remove their facemasks to eat and drink after which they wear it on.
The order applies to to planes, trains, boats, buses, ferries, subways, taxis, and rideshare services such as Lyft & Uber including air terminals, train stations, subway stations, seaports, and bus depots around the US.
The order was given by the CDC in response to the fast rising number of COVID-19 infection rates in the US. The 11 page CDC order takes effect just before midnight on Monday.
