The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria in Osun State, Bishop Amos Ogunrinde, on Monday said the association had commenced dialogue with the government , following cancellation of cross-over services to stop spread of coronavirus.
Oyogist.com reported that the Osun government on Sunday said there would be no countdown to New Year ceremonies and cross-over services due to COVID-19 spread.
But Ogunrinde said the governor took the choices so as to bring people under check.
He said, “It isn’t the wish of the governor to prevent cross-over services. The CAN leadership and government, we are dialoguing on the matter.
“We believe government will give another instruction regarding the cross-over services. I think our governor may be a listening governor.”
However, the Chairman, Osum Muslim Community, Alhaji Mustafa Olawuyi, said government decision to prevent large gatherings was within the interest of the people.
