According to report reaching oyogist.com, the two Nigerian Afro singers, Omah Lay and Tems, who were arrested and detained by the Ugandan authorities, have reportedly been released today 15th December, 2020, following the Nigerian government’s intervention.
This was made known by popular Nigerian singer, Mr. Eazi, and emPawa boss who took to his official tweeter handle to announce the new development.
According to the tweet made by Mr. Eazi, he said, “Pleased to hear that My brothers and sisters are to be released & the case is resolved, Big love to everyone who worked on this.”
The singer also used the medium in thanking the Ugandan government for listening to the pleas of many Nigerian s and music lovers in releasing the duo. He therefore urged show promoters to always adhere to laid down rules and regulations so as to avoid a similar occurrence.
“On the said issue, Promoters must adhere to Rules and Regulations & be held accountable for flouting these rules. We African Creatives get Little or no support, for the soft power & amount of Jobs we create! The sector must be looked at holistically! God bless Africa.”
It should be recall that Omah Lay and Tems were arreated by the Ugandan government on charges bothering on the hosting of a large public concert which was against the Ugandan Covid-19 guideline.
