Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, Iran’s highest-ranking nuclear scientist has been assassinated in an apparent bomb attack near the capital city of Tehran, OYOGist.com has gathered.
Iran’s defence ministry released a statement confirming the attack. The country’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, described his murder as “an act of state terror”.
Iran’s Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, was perceived as being the brain behind the country’s secret nuclear weapons program by Western Intelligence agencies.
According to reports, deplomata described Moshen Fakhrizadeh as the “father of the Iraninan bomb”.
Iran has recently been reported to have increases the amount of enriched uranium its producing. Enriched uranium is an important ingredient in both civil nuclear power generation and development of military nuclear weapons.
Iran has denied participating in military nuclear activities and insisted that it’s nuclear programme is purely for peaceful purposes.
Four Iranian scientists were assassinated between 2010 and 2012, and the country has accused Israel of playing a role in the killings.
Fakhrizadeh was named in one of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s presentations about Iran’s nuclear agenda in May 2018.
