South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has been elected to return to the Senate for his fourth term after defeating Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison, OYOGIST.com learnt.
Senator Graham’s opponent, Harrison was born to a single 16-year-old mother and grew up poor in Orangeburg, halfway between Charleston and Columbia.
He worked with Democratic Representative, Jim Clyburn, and was later appointed as the first Black chair of the South Carolina Democratic party.
Senator Graham, a lawyer by training, had long been involved in South Carolina politics. He served four terms in the US House of Representatives and has held his Senate seat since 2003.
