President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance and Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, of her victory as the president Futher said that Nigeria would do all it can to make sure she becomes the Director-General of World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Oyogist.com learnt that Dr Okonjo-Iweala is one of two candidates contesting for the top position of the multilateral institution.
President Buhari said in a tweet that Okonjo deserves more support to get the top job because of her profile and diligence in serving the country, and the world.
He said;
“We will do all that we can to ensure that @NOIweala emerges as the Director-General of the WTO. She deserves this. I will continue to seek support from world leaders on her behalf. Whatever phone calls need to be made, whatever letters need to be sent, I will do it”
Okonjo Iwela while reacting to the President’s comment, thanked him for his support.
She said;
“I feel very proud of Nigeria. I am getting so much support from you, Mr President, Chief of Staff, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Ministers of Industry, Trade and Investments. The ministers have been working around the clock to ensure that I succeed,’’
