The Imota Rice Mill, Lagos has been a talk of the town for the past few periods. The rice mill is capable of producing 2.4million 50bags yearly. However, to ensure availability of adequate power supply to the facility, Lagos State Government is embarking on the establishment of a 6MW of power scalable to 10MW and 16MW respectively for the operation and sustainability of the rice mill and other ancillary projects in the Imota Light Industrial Park, oyogist.com reports.
Lagos State Commissioner for works and infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya reports that the Imota mill covers about 8,000 Square metres and would create jobs for 250,000 people.
The Imota Rice Mill would also have a warehouse to store 20,000 metric tonnes of rice.
The Imota Rice mill covered a landmass of 8.5 hectares of land . The mill has two production lines with a capacity of 16metric tonnes and will produce 650bags of 50kg rice per hour.
It is reported by Lagos state government that the rice mill when completed would be the world’s fourth largest and the largest in Africa.
