—Derek Chauvin had been involved in previous shootings and Tou Thao was sued for use of excessive force—
The United States police officer caught on video kneeling on George Floyd’s neck as George pleaded for help, is Derek Chauvin, OYOGist.com reports.
Derek Chauvin, 44, has been investigated for shady operations in the past which includes shootings in 2006, 2008, & 2011 and one fetal car chase in his 19 years of experience. He joined the force January 8, 2001.
In 2006 Derek Chauvin, was one of six officers linked to the death of Wayne Reyes, 42 who allegedly pulled a shotgun on six cops, which included Chauvin. The officers then killed Reyes.
Two years later Chauvin was investigated for his role in the 2008 shooting of Ira Latrell Toles during a domestic assault call.
Toles was wounded after police said he went for an officer’s gun and Chauvin shot him.
And in 2011, 23-year-old Leroy Martinez was shot and injured during a chase given by officers including Chauvin.
Tou Thao was sued $25,000 for using excessive force on a handcuffed suspect to the extent that he broke his teeth broke. This happened in 2017!
It is shocking that officers with these records were allowed to still patrol in Minneapolis, United States, even as partners.
