Tech giant, Twitter Inc., has announced that its employees can continue to work from home, even after the coronavirus pandemic is over, forever if they wish, OYOGist.com has learned.
The company plans to keep its offices shut till September and has offered employees the opportunity to continue to work from home even after the pandemic is over.
Twitter made the announcement in an article released via the Twitter Blog by the company’s Vice President of People, Jennifer Christie titled “Keeping our employees and partners safe during #coronavirus.”
“Twitter was one of the first companies to go to a work from home model in the face of COVID-19, but we don’t anticipate being one of the first to return to offices,” the announcement read.
Twitter revealed that due to decentralization of its workforce, it was able to allow workers to work from home as quickly as possible, and this model has proven to be effective for the company.
“So if our employees are in a role and situation that enables them to work from home and they want to continue to do so forever, we will make that happen,” read the blog.
“If not, our offices will be their warm and welcoming selves, with some additional precautions, when we feel it’s safe to return.”
The company, however, revealed that its offices will not open until September, and it would be gradual where only essential staff would be resuming. “It will be careful, intentional, office by office and gradual.” Most companies are revamping their workplaces by getting all the amenities, checking the functionality of business alarm systems, and other workplace essentials.
It also revealed that business travels are off the table until September. The company also canceled all in-person events for the remainder for 2020, with a view to assess that by 2021.
