Top Hollywood producer and TV executive, Harvey Weinstein, who was enmeshed in a series of sexual allegations scandals that gave birth to the #MeToo movement, has on Monday been found guilty of the rape allegations by a United States court.
The 67-year-old was convicted of third-degree rape and criminal sexual conduct in the first degree with up to 25 years in prison.
While Weinstein was convicted, most of the more serious charges brought against him were dropped.
However, Harvey Weinstein will still face more charges in LA, which include rape and sexual assault of two women in 2013.
Over 80 women had accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct. These allegations are from celebrity actresses and everyday women.
The verdict was arrived at on Monday, after five days of deliberations, by a jury of seven men and five women.
The jury found Weinstein guilty of sexually assaulting former production assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006 and raping Jessica Mann in 2013. Jessica Mann wanted to be an actress.
