In a tragedic event involving the MD of Maersk shipping company, Gildas Tohouo, it has been reported that the MD and his wife were killed in a freak attack at his residence.
According to reports from the police, Mr Tohouo, a Cameroonian executive who was the MD of Maersk shipping company until his death, resided at the Cul De Sac Compound off Oba Adeyinka Oyekan Ikoyi with his wife a Bulgarian. The electrician that worked for the estate went to the home of the couple, having given the impression that he was going to attend to repairs.
He went with a friend.
Upon entering the couple’s house, they overpowered the duo and locked them in separate rooms. While with the wife, they forced her to make a transfer of funds to their accounts and then forced her to drink acid. She was then stabbed and suffocated with a pillow.
They proceeded to Mr Tohouo’s room and also forced him to drink acid, and then stabbed him as well. However, Mr Tohouo was able to send a distress call to his company’s Chief Security Officer(CSO) who alerted the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.
According to the spokesperson for Lagos state police command, Bala Elkana, the suspects have been arrested and are currently in custody.
“We have an incident on someone who was attacked with his wife. Both of them were stabbed. The wife died and he is still alive and responding to treatment. Those who carried it out are in our custody. One of them is an electrician in the estate, who was assisted by his friend. Their aim was to steal from the man. They were there to rob” he said
