Known as “Mr. Bob,” an 88-year-old crossing guard, has died from a car accident while saving two kids from being hit by the vehicle. Bob Nill was known by the community as “Mr. Bob.”
Bob was very kind and loved by the community and those close to him.
Nill was at work doing his shift on Tuesday morning when the incident took place right before a school in Kansas City. A black saloon car hit Nill early in the morning before the school resumed session.
A spokesperson for the Kansas City Police department said Mr. Bob was taken to a local hospital due to the critical nature of his injuries, however, he later died from the accident.
Mr. Nill was seen as a hero for giving up his own life to save those kids, and the school, Christ the King Catholic School was particularly grateful for “protecting the children of CTK.”
The two kids Mr. Bob saved were trying to cross the road when the incident occurred.
The school released a statement to the public in regards to Mr. Nill’s death,
“Our hearts are heavy as we inform you of [Nill]’s passing. Please continue to keep Mr. Nill and his family in your prayers as well as the students, parents, and teachers who witnessed today’s accident,” the school said.
“Also know that Mr. Nill is a hero. He stopped two of our students from crossing the road as the car approached.”
According to Police, the driver of the car was also taken to the hospital for treatment as with injuries. They are still conducting investigations.
