Robert Kwarteng, a Ghanian national, has gained international attention after creating a solar-powered handwashing system to help fight COVID-19 in the country, OYOGist.com reports.

The sanitizing system dispenses liquid soap and water from the same faucet without requiring the user to touch the tap with their hands. This is possible through the sensor-powered tap that dispenses the soap and water upon “sensing” your hands.

“This system is the normal barrel and we’ve recycled it,” Robert said in the video seen by OYOGist.com. “We have installed a solar system that will help pump the water and we have sensors so that we don’t need to touch the tap,” Kwarteng said as he demonstrates how the system works.

The sanitizing system includes and alarm that lets you know how long you have to wait for after the soap is dispensed before it dispenses water to complete the wash.
