The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has condemned the statement made by two French scientists who said that the first round of testing of Covid19 vaccines in Africa, OYOGist.com has gathered.
OYOGist.com recalls that two scientists were discussing on live TV that Africa should be the testing ground for coronavirus vaccines (read it here).
The statement caused outrage around the world as many people pushed back against the racist statement, and reminded the two French scientists that Africa has the lowest number of confirmed coronavirus cases and the lowest COVID-19 related deaths in the entire world.
The WHO Director General, Dr Tedros, obviously irked by this statement, said the “WHO will not allow this to happen, and it was a disgrace, actually appalling to hear during the 21st century, from scientists that kind of remark,” Dr Tedros said during a COVID-19 media briefing.
“And we condemn this with the strongest terms possible. But we assure you that this will not happen in Africa!” Tedros added.
