According to report reaching oyogist.com, Oyo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Mutiu Agboke, has called on the over 700,000 residents in the state yet to collect their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) to come forward to get them.

Agboke made this call while addressing a press conference at the INEC office, Ibadan, on Thursday.

He charged the concerned persons to use the opportunity of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to get their PVCs with the 2023 election knocking.

He announced that there will be 111 registration centres in the state with the CVR exercise to be carried out continuously for a year.

Aside from the online exercise which commenced on June 28, Agboke further called on Nigerians to partake in the physical Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) on July 19 in all of our INEC state and local government offices nationwide.

With the combination of ongoing online exercise and physical CVR, he expressed certainty that no eligible Nigerian will be disenfranchised.

Agboke added that the current CVR exercise was configured for efficiency, adding that the online exercise will reduce overcrowding at registration centres, especially in view of the prevailing security situation and the COVID-19 pandemic, and make registration processes easier.

He specifically charged the political class and political parties to mobilise the electorate to register so as to be on the Voters’ registration list for the 2023 general election.

Speaking on additional polling units, Agboke noted that the additional 1,607 polling units will guarantee better access to voters during elections. He added that the idea is also to make new polling units available for voters during the Continuous Voters Exercise which kickstarted online from June 28, 2021.
