Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has alleged that the Oyo State Government paid a ransom to secure the release of pupils and teachers abducted from a school in the state, yet dozens of the victims reportedly remain in captivity.

According to VDM, despite the alleged payment, 39 pupils and seven teachers are still being held by their abductors. He expressed concern over the situation and called for greater transparency regarding efforts to secure the safe return of those still in captivity.

The activist questioned the handling of the rescue process and urged authorities to intensify efforts to ensure that all the victims are freed without further delay. He also appealed to relevant security agencies to prioritise the safety and well-being of the affected pupils and teachers.

The claims have generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the continued captivity of the victims and calling for urgent action from both the government and security agencies.

As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Government had not publicly responded to VDM’s allegations regarding the alleged ransom payment.
