A media aide to former Minister of Power and Oyo State governorship hopeful, Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed recent criticisms directed at his principal, insisting that no amount of blackmail or political attacks can derail Adelabu’s ambition ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.

Speaking on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Femi Awogboro described the growing wave of criticism against Adelabu as a sign of his increasing political relevance and popularity within the state. He argued that coordinated attacks and media campaigns are common tactics used against politicians perceived as strong contenders.

According to Awogboro, Adelabu’s opponents are becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the momentum building around his political aspiration. He maintained that the former minister enjoys widespread support among party members, youths, professionals, women, and grassroots stakeholders across Oyo State.

The aide further stated that Adelabu’s record in both the public and private sectors has positioned him as one of the leading figures in the race for the APC ticket. He pointed to Adelabu’s experience in banking, public administration, and his tenure as Minister of Power as evidence of his leadership capacity.

Awogboro also dismissed allegations suggesting that Adelabu had engaged in anti-party activities, insisting that the politician remains committed to the APC and its ideals. He urged party supporters not to be distracted by what he described as politically motivated propaganda aimed at weakening Adelabu’s growing influence within the party.

Reaffirming confidence in Adelabu’s political future, the aide said the governorship aspirant remains focused on presenting his vision for Oyo State and would not be deterred by criticism. He added that many of those currently opposing Adelabu could eventually align with him as the political landscape evolves ahead of the 2027 election.

The remarks come amid heightened political activities in Oyo State, where Adelabu has already declared his governorship ambition and unveiled a development blueprint aimed at economic growth, job creation, improved security, and governance reforms.
