Senator Diket Plang, who represents Plateau Central Senatorial District, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election, describing the move as a clear demonstration of stability, courage, and continuity in governance.
Speaking in Jos, the senator said the President’s decision reflects confidence in the administration’s leadership and reinforces the need for consistency in implementing ongoing policies and reforms. According to Plang, maintaining the Tinubu-Shettima ticket sends a strong message of unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Plang also expressed support for the proposed establishment of state police, arguing that decentralised policing would strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture and improve the fight against insecurity at the grassroots. He urged both the federal and state governments to ensure proper safeguards are put in place to prevent abuse of the system.
The senator further called for increased funding, better equipment, and stronger institutional support for the Nigerian Armed Forces, stressing that security personnel require adequate resources to effectively combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities across the country.
Plang reaffirmed his confidence in the Tinubu administration’s commitment to addressing the nation’s security and development challenges, urging Nigerians to continue supporting efforts aimed at fostering peace, stability, and national progress.
