Following President Mohammadu Buhari’s nationwide speech on October 22, 2020, a lot of people and political pundits alike have expressed their disbelief and displeasure that the President did not make any reference to the Lekki Toll-gate shootings, oyogist.com reports.

According to reports, the Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adeshina who was a guest on a live political Tv Show on Channels Tv called Politics Today which was aired Today October 23, 2020, asserted that the President couldn’t have said anything about the Lekki shooting because the matter was still under investigation.

“It will be premature and presumptuous for him to speak on a matter that is still under investigation,” he said.

He also confirmed that The Defence Headquarters were already investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting at the now-famous Lekki-toll and also, that the Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu had already constituted a probe panel to look into the Lekki shooting to tell Nigerians what happened.

Finally, Mr. Adeshina made Nigerians understand that once the investigation has been concluded and all the facts understood, the President can now comment on the matter.
