Seyi Makinde Cancels Third Term, Announces Date for First Term Resumption

OYOGist.com has learned that the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde has set new guidelines for schools resumption and educational activities in the state.

The decision was reached at the end of the State Executive Council meeting on Tuesday evening. The state government has agreed to cancel the third term for the 2019/2020 academic calendar. This means promotion into the next class will be determined by students’ performance in the first and second terms.

Primary six pupils, Junior Secondary Students 3 and Secondary Students 3 who are currently in school are to proceed on holiday on July 30 and return for their final examination in some week’s time.

The Basic Education Certificate Examination will start in August while the Competitive Entrance Examination will hold on August 19. JSS1 will have their placement and screening test on August 20 while that of Technical College will be on August 28.

The SSS3 students will return for their final examination as soon as the Federal Government and the WAEC announce the date for the examination.

The 2020/2021 academic session will begin on September 21, the first term will end by December 18 while the Second term holds between January 11 and April 9. The final term will be between May 3 to July 30.
