The federal government is continuing its efforts to bring its citizens from South Africa back home.
In a coordinated effort to prioritize the safety and welfare of its diaspora population, the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria and the Consulate General in Johannesburg have announced the third phase of government-arranged special repatriation flights.
On Friday, July 3, 2026, a total of 271 cleared Nigerian nationals will board a flight departing from the O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to return to Nigeria.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Consul General, Ninikanwa Okey-Uche, the evacuation protocol is strictly managed to ensure maximum security. All approved passengers have been instructed to gather at the Nigeria High Commission office in Pretoria by 10:00 am on Thursday.
From there, official mission buses will transport the returnees directly to the airport.
Consul General Okey-Uche emphasized that assembling at the High Commission is mandatory.
No independent travel to the airport will be permitted, as passengers require coordinated access to the airport’s restricted processing zone. This measure has been put in place to guarantee a seamless and safe journey for everyone involved.
