The Honourable minister for transportation, Honourable Rotimi Amaechi Chibuike, during an interview with Channels News yesterday made it known that, Nigeria has not signed away it sovereignty as a country to China, oyogist.com reports.

It was alleged that the agreement the country went into with China before China gave us the loan was a sovereign agreement, which means that, the lender has the legal right to take over anything she wishes, if Nigeria doesn’t pay back the loan as at the agreed time.

The Minister along with some other ministers said, nobody or Nigeria has signed out anything to China and that, once a country is a sovereign nation, then it is sovereign nation, no other country can recolonize it.

“We must always learn to pay our debt and we are paying, and once we are paying our debts, nobody will come and take over any of our assets.”

It was made known that the loan which was obtained from China will be used to construct rail line, in order to improve the country’s transport system.
