The Oyo State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspected kidnappers in Ikoyi-Ile, following a reported threat involving an alleged kidnapping plan and ransom demand.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the police said the arrest followed a threat report received on Friday, January 9, 2026, from a resident, Islamiat Omowumi, who reported receiving a call from a private number. The caller allegedly threatened to kidnap her, demanded human parts, and asked for a ₦10 million ransom, claiming she was being targeted because she is a meat seller.

Acting swiftly, detectives deployed intelligence-led investigative measures, which led to the arrest of three suspects identified as Nurudeen Fathia (17), Fatai Taiwo (17), and Munirat Saliu (16)—all female. During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed, claiming the threat was intended as a prank.

Police also recovered a small Itel mobile phone allegedly used to make the threatening call, which further corroborated the investigation. The suspects remain in custody while investigations continue to determine appropriate legal action.

The Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, commended the rapid response of officers and acknowledged the support of the Inspector-General of Police in strengthening crime prevention across the state.

The Command warned members of the public—especially youths—against acts capable of causing fear, panic, or threats to life, stressing that such actions constitute serious criminal offences with legal consequences. Residents were encouraged to report suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station.
