According to a news report, four members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra were arrested by officers of the Nigerian Army in Aba Market on the allegations of selling and distributing copies of banned Biafran newspapers.

According to the Deputy Director of Public Relations of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Aliyu Yusuf, the four newspaper vendors were apprehended by troops of sector 2 in Abia. He identified the vendors as Martins Ogwuchukwu, Sunday Elom, Innocent Mike and Chineme Obiechifula.

The men were arrested under the military campaign of the Nigerian Army called “Exercise Atilogwu Udo 1,” a military exercise going on in South-Eastern states and Cross River.

The newspaper outlets in question have yet to be named but the colonel said they have been proscribed and their principals have been surrendered to the right agencies for further profiling.

Since its inception on November 1, the Exercise Atilogwu Udo 1 campaign has resulted in the arrest of 86 high-profile criminals.
