Veteran Actor, Tom Ligon, whose remarkable career spanned six decades across television, film, and Broadway has passed away at the age of 85.
His passing was officially confirmed by the actors’ union, SAG-AFTRA, though no specific cause of death was provided.
Born on September 10, 1940, in New Orleans, Ligon’s journey into acting began in the mid-1960s with guest-starring roles on television. He quickly made a name for himself, securing a breakout supporting role in the 1969 musical film Paint Your Wagon, where he shared the screen with Hollywood icons Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin.
That same year, Ligon proved his versatility by stepping onto the Broadway stage, appearing in Angela alongside Geraldine Page, and Love Is a Time of Day with Sandy Duncan. He became a staple of the New York theater scene throughout the late 1960s, even serving as an understudy in the 1996 Broadway production of Tartuffe.
