The Honourable Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, on Tuesday, inspected the State Government urban renewal projects within Somolu Local Government and Bariga LCDA in Lagos. According to the Commissioner, the projects were designed to upgrade the otherwise blighted areas. And also to enhance the value of property therein, stressing that some of the features of the projects in the area include Paved Stones, Drainage, Walkways on both sides and Water Hydrants.
Salako stated that the essence of the inspection exercise was to ascertain the level of work done. And also prepare the projects for eventual handover to the beneficiaries whom he urged to take ownership. He explained that the ongoing constructions are vital projects that will improve the socio-economic development of the area.
The Commissioner averred that the projects, which are at an advanced stage of completion, are being executed by the Lagos State Urban Renewal Authority, as part of the urban renewal strategy blueprint of the T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda.
