A new report by the CNN, during an interview with the former club owner where George Floyd and Derek Chauvin both worked, has revealed that both men knew each other for more than 17 years before the incident, OYOGist.com has gathered.
Both George Floyd and Derek Chauvin (the racist Minneapolis Police officer that killed the man with his knee on his neck) worked as bouncers for the El Nuevo Rodeo on Lake Street before their last encounter that left George Floyd dead.
This was according to a testimony by Minneapolis City Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins and the club’s former owner, Maya Santamaria in an interview with CNN on Friday.
George and Derek both served the same shift, while Derek worked outside, George worked inside.
“Chauvin was our off-duty police for almost the entirety of the 17 years that we were open,” Santamaria told the KSTP news. “They were working together at the same time. It’s just that Chauvin worked outside and the security guards were inside.”
