In a significant blow to the intelligence and supply networks of insurgents in Nigeria’s North-East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a suspected member of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) / Boko Haram.
The suspect reportedly admitted to tracking military movements and supplying essential provisions to terrorist cells operating in northern Borno State.
The 25-year-old suspect, identified as Muhammad Mustapha, a native of the Monguno Local Government Area, was captured at approximately 9:00 p.m. on July 16, 2026.
The arrest occurred during a coordinated night patrol and identification sweep conducted by a joint security force under the banner of Operation DESERT SANITY V. The team comprised:
The 403 Amphibious Brigade / 130 Battalion (Motorised)
The Nigerian Borderless Logistics Corps (NBLC)
The Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
During initial questioning, Mustapha allegedly confessed to his affiliation with a local Boko Haram/ISWAP cell located in the Kadia region, just north of Mairari town.
