Chowdeck Hits One Million Monthly Orders in Nigeria

Chowdeck, a dynamic food and essentials delivery startup headquartered in Lagos, has recently surpassed a remarkable benchmark by processing over one million orders monthly across Nigeria as of October 2025.

Femi Aluko, the CEO and co-founder, shared this exciting news on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting a surge in daily transactions from approximately 30,000 to more than 40,000 orders, with figures continuing to climb steadily.

This accomplishment marks a significant milestone, positioning Chowdeck as the first on-demand delivery service in Africa to hit the one million monthly order threshold, underscoring the growing appetite for swift and dependable food delivery solutions nationwide.

Rapid Expansion and Growing User Base

Currently, Chowdeck caters to an estimated 1.5 million active users and employs a fleet exceeding 20,000 delivery riders operating throughout Nigeria and Ghana. The company’s operational capabilities received a substantial boost following a $9 million Series A funding round in August 2025, aimed at enhancing delivery speed and service quality.

Prior to this, Chowdeck secured $2.5 million in seed capital in April 2024, attracting investments from notable backers including Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital, FounderX Ventures, Hoaq Fund, Levare Ventures, True Culture Funds, and Haleakala Ventures.

Since its inception in October 2021, Chowdeck has demonstrated exponential growth. Notably, the total value of meals delivered via the platform in 2024 surged over six times compared to 2023, reaching an impressive ₦30 billion in transaction volume.

Expanding Horizons Beyond Delivery

In a strategic move to diversify its offerings, Chowdeck acquired Mira, a point-of-sale (POS) system tailored for food and hospitality enterprises, in June 2025.

This acquisition enables Chowdeck to provide integrated technology solutions that streamline restaurant operations, transforming the company from a mere delivery service into a comprehensive tech partner for food businesses.

Following its market entry into Ghana in May 2025, Chowdeck is aggressively broadening its footprint across West Africa, capitalizing on the retreat of competitors such as Glovo, Bolt Food, and Yango, which have scaled back their presence in the region.

The Driving Force Behind Chowdeck’s Success

At the heart of Chowdeck’s rapid ascent is its extensive network of delivery riders, who are pivotal to the company’s reliability and accessibility. In Lagos, these on-demand couriers reportedly earn up to ₦25,000 daily by efficiently navigating the city’s congested streets and fulfilling multiple orders.

Their dedication and resilience have cemented Chowdeck’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s most trusted and convenient food delivery platforms, meeting the increasing demand for quick and dependable service.
